My husband didn't care for this necklace. I was trying to be a little creative, but I don't know. The memory wire chocker is pretty big (it came that way) and I'm not, so it does hang too low. But on someone bigger than me, is it still tacky? Excuse the eccessive skin, the necklace is just too long for me. But otherwise... what do you think? Be brutal, what does it need or not need? I'm taking some necklaces to be displayed tommorrow and I'm still unsure about this one. Thanks! cookie

i will be brutal here, cookie, please take it in the nicest way..
the center stone needs to go back in the tumbler!
too big, too clunky. the side stones could be necklaces all by themselves.
my 2 cents, please don't take offense,
KD

Yeah, I like big and clunky, but maybe other people dont. It's too thick, even for me. Thanks,

Not one of your best, Cookster. I like the choker and the wire ditty separating the stones, but the stones just don't work. The middle one is, as KD said, just too big and chunky and needs to revisit Big Red for a while. I think I would rework that one.
Do you have some other stones you can put on the choker? I really like it and the wire ditty. Did you make that?

Yes, I did the wire ditty. It's the best I've been able to manage with wire wrapping I'm just not any good at that. And I see now one side is longer than the other. OK, I'm going to take it apart and redo it. Thanks for the suggestions, more are welcome. P>S> I burned out my tile saw again. I dulled the blade the first time and then just pushed it to hard when I got the motor replaced. But my birthday is in March.... ;D cookie

Hi Cookie, Excessive skin Don't you realize that there is no such thing for us men folk! All due respect intended ;D ;D I have learned one thing since I started to sell jewelry at craft shows and other area events: If I like it ... someone else will like it. If I don't like it ... someone else will like it. When I think it's down right ugly ... some always finds there own reasons for liking it. There are people who just like chunky stones ... I say "it looks fine to me" and you never know who will like the chunky stones ... much like yourself That is my two cents worth anyway. John

I think its fine. John is correct (well everyone is ) I say "Each to their own" - dont grind it away, it is how it is, and it looks great to me. Nice item from my point of view. I like the middle chunk, sharp edged and makes a statement. Gets my vote anyways.

Cookster, I have to take what is apparently a minority view and ask what not to like about it? I think it's great -- I don't think it is too big for you, if you had the right neckline it could work, but anyhow, it can't be a biggie to shorten it an inch or two to make it closer (but not quite) to choker length? I like the natural stone bit. The odd angles and shapes of the rocks makes them eye catching. I love it.

i think it's cool - got to have something for those that like the big ones. there definitely must be a market for the big ones because some of those beads at that show today were absolutely huge and heavy. put it out there and if it doesn't sell then take it apart and redesign it.
i'm sorry to hear your saw bit the dust again! fingers and toes crossed that in march you find a bigger saw in your presents - end every conversation until your birthday with "lortone 8" trim saw" ;D.

I think you should take it for display. I do a lot of shows and it is so true what John said about things you may not like end up being loved by some one else.
The only problem is when you display something you don't like is you'll probably get some requests for more like it.

Well, Cookie, just goes to show my 2 cents ain't even worth two cents! LOL! But on rethinking, even though it's not one of my favs of your creations, there are others that like it alot. It depends on personal taste and just because it doesn't appeal to my taste, sure doesn't mean it won't appeal to others. So, best to just ignore my opinions! ;D I have a couple of BIG stones I keep thinking would make a neat necklace if they were just a bit smaller. One is so big I have even thought of cutting it in half and using each half! Although it would be way too big for me, it might be perfect for someone else. Guess I need to just do it even though it probably won't be suitable for me. After all, I'm not making necklaces for me to wear! I have made a few of those wire dittys and finally realized that I needed to count how many wraps I made if I wanted to get them the same size. DUH! Don't know how many I made before that dawned on me! Good luck of showing your stuff today. I hope they love them all and ya' sell every last one! llana

It is a beautiful necklace, but for me the stones are a little big. My suggestion would be to put just one of the stones on the necklace, maybe take the outer two stones off and just leave the center stone with the beads and coils. As for the Memory wire being big, could it be possible that the stones are too heavy to make it fit snugger to your neck? Tami

Cookie, six the twisted wire between the stones. Go with much smaller twists, and use beads. With the center stone, it should be lower than the other two. Designing a necklace should be like building an house. you must start with a foundation. With the larger stone lower, it makes the necklace point to the head. The eyes are the window to the soul. I like the memory wire neclace, it could be a little shorter but that is trite. Always build a foundation. Odd numbers are good. Three works. I would just drop the stone a little, and do away with the twisted wire. Use four sections instead of two. Use two smaller sections with a bead on either end. Other wise, not too bad. You could get 40-48$ retail.

FWIW, today I was wearing a pendant of a slab of fluorite. It is baroque shape with 7 sides (I just counted), nicely polished, and it is almost 2" by 1-3/4" and 3/8" thick. The slab was in a dealer's case at a recent local rock show for a ridiculously low price of something like $3 or $5, probably because of a couple minor scratches, so I passed it to a friend who's learning wrapping and she came up with this pendant. This thing is a cool piece and I'll try to remember to photo it and post. There's a family resemblance here.

That big stone is cool- by itself- just too much rock- that big one needs to be the center piece all alone, by itself, with no other rocks. otherwise real cool (loved the wirewrap!)

I really like your idea there but think the center stone is too big also. Just goes to show you, there's lots of different tastes out there. I'm probably way too late with this but I'd give it a go just as it is and if it doesn't sell, redo it.

Thanks everyone. Wow I've got alot to think about. Love the wire/hate wire one/ two/three stones smaller/large The more I look at it though, the more I think it needs to be toned down. A smaller center stone on a drop, maybe. The beads were leftovers, I don't have any more... Time to don the tin foil hat and speak to the oracle in the bathtub again. ;D
