I put the rocks on the glass of the scanner and drape the fabric or towel over the top of the rocks, completely covering the scanner top, and just keep the lid up, I don't even try to put the lid down, because it has a tendancy to move the rocks. Be careful though if you don't put the rocks down easily you can pit your glass. Been there done that. I am thinking about putting a piece of clear cellephane on the glass to protect it. Tami

Go to a Joann fabric store- In the quilting section they have this clear vinyl backing for Quilting squares- it is a non slip grip stuff that quilters use to keep ther stuff from sliding around as they cut it (my wife is a quilter) It should fit on the scanner glass nicely!

How about using some of that sticky plastic stuff (Map Tac) to put on your scanner glass? I think it's even removable or they have some that is GREAT ROCKS BTW I'M looking at your tiny pieces and am reminded of seeing a picture of a bracelet made of leftover swarovski crystals someone said that some people have better leftovers than others - your tiny rocks are more beautiful than my batches (I won't even get into how your larger ones look - too depressed right now )

Stefan do you know if they carry that vinyl at Hobby Lobby or Wal-Mart? I think my closes Joann Fabrics is 170 miles away, and I usually only get there about once everyother month. Tami

Not sure about wal mart- And I have never heard of hobby lobby- but It is worth a try- If they don't have it I think you can order online from Joanns- I wish I could remember the name of the company that makes it- I'll ask my wife tonight and try to post it (if I can get online later).

Hey Tweetie- Cheer up- Nothing worth doing is achieved quickly- This is a craft and as craftsmen (and craftswomen) it take time patience and practice- We are both new to this but with the great guidance we get soon our creations will be of the same calibur- I found a batch of rocks I had done with my son over 10 years ago- I laughed over them for nearly an hour- They were terrible- And I remeber being so proud of them- Now I look at the stuff I do now- and it is better coming out of the course grind- than this stuff was out of polish- I just wish 10 years ago when I quit this hobby (ok obsession) that I had given it one more go- I still have that kiddie tumbler and I'm still using it- but the results are much nicer- because I have learned- Now I have my Thumblers- and I'm gonna get another one- AND the wife agreed to let me get a tile saw for Valentines day (just a Home depot cheapy- but at least I'll be able to cut something) And who knows what the future will bring- So don't get discouraged-
