This is my first attempt at making a pair of earrings with my stones. The ones on the left are just bell caps glued on - they seem the same kind of stone, just different colors. But the ones one the right took me a good 2 hours to figure something out - tried wrapping half the amethyst - wouldn't hold - tried a spiral - too loose - tried beading around half - wouldn't hold - I kinda after may attempts got this more or less okay. But the amethysts are so darn small - less than 1/2" long. My daughter will love them anyways and she'll show her friends at school and come back telling me that it was broken /lost/stepped on. Sorry for the quality of the picture, but it doesn't matter the quality of the camera if the idiot behind the lens can't use it properly - the card was full after that shot and I couldn't get another one in Thanks for looking and I'm open to suggestions/complaints

i think you did a great job, Tweet! i love the wire wrapped pair of amethyst, your first attempt looks a heck of a lot better than my 100th!
the match pair with bell caps are very nice too, wish the color had come out better in the photo..
keep up the good work and show us more!

Actually due to the poor ability of the photographer - you can't see the "tool marks" on the wrapped amethysts I tried to base my wrap on an idea I saw somewhere on this very site - maybe the wire is too thick. But I thought it would be so much easier that what it was - basically, if the stone is small, I expect it would be so much harder to do anything. Thanks for the vote of confidence KD...

WOW tweet- Now that is gutsy- To admit that it was not the camera- well You just gained god status in my eyes! Oh and that wire wrap- AWESOME- Loved the bell caps also but I have a soft spot for the PURPLE (my daughters birthstone- hope the stuff in my tumbler finishes in time) Your work is truely great- If this was a first attempt- well I can't wait to see your future- I mean those earrings are Truely wonderful- Congrates on some very fine work- Oh BTW you can try a dremel tool with a felt buffing wheel and a little red rouge to remove any tool marks- I use it on the Stainless steel tool I make and with a light touch it works wonders! (I could not see the tool marks -but I'll take your word for it!)

I'm glad the tool marks don't show - must be my exceptional photographic abilities ;D Actually the tool marks are from repeated winding, unwinding & straightening the wire - it was a desperate attempt to get somethi ;Dng useable I may add some glue in case one of the kids yanks it

Way to go! At least your doing some creative things with your rocks. Everytime I attempted wire wrapping I just end up wasting a bunch of wire. I have a few that I just decided I'm going to put a hole in the top, but I noticed I still haven't got around to that either. Darn work has been taking up my hobby time!

BTW you should see the foot & a half of wire I scraped as well! - but, I asked an electrician at my work if he could give me a foot or two of wire (he did, so I have a bunch of thin copper wires to try to mess with.

Tweetie that's OK for your first try. It's not easy to wire wrap and the more of it you do the better you get to know how the wire reacts to each tool and before you know it,it will be just like tying your shoes!! A no brainer!! Keep it up you're doin ge8!! Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Tom
