Can you still collect StinkingWater Pet Wood? or is it pretty tough to find? Love the golden colors from that area, have to plan a trip if there's still decent specimens to be had...

It is still in the guidebooks. Mostly BLM out there (some leased range, a bit of private). Public access currently, so fill any holes you dig to keep it open to future rockhounds. Might have to get away from the track, pick a spot with traces and do some digging these days, though. Nice big pieces like that just sticking out of the ground aren't common. Same BLM rules for petrified wood as elsewhere. You'll need a BLM permit for collecting over 25 pounds + 1 piece per day (or 250 pounds per year). If you are very lucky and come across anything bigger than 250 pounds, you'll have to negotiate for a special permit in order to remove that.

Real hard to find and double hard digging if you do find anything. You could spend days there and only find chips unless you are extremely lucky. I quit going there a few years ago!
