Those of you who have the intarsia grinder- Rockoonz and Pat and whomever else. I want to get some new grinding discs. What can I use with it that I can purchase like at Kinsley North? What are they called? Backers and laps?

Tela, a friend just rigged up a system of flat lap discs on magnetic discs and uses them on the right side of his Genie —- perpendicular to the wheels. It’s his version of the intarsia grinder.
I don’t know which grits he uses, but imagine it depends on the rocks he is modifying. Good luck!

I use spin on discs for polishing on the right, But I could do as you suggest for the left side. I want it for doing backs. So, maybe 280, 600, 1200. Something like that. I was asking because I do have the intarsia grinder. I'm liking your friend's idea, too.

He didn’t like the intarsia grinder because it was too much trouble to keep changing discs on it. I agree, so I use my flat lap a lot with it.
