I have been having a problem with one Genie geyser. It's not the airline. I have boiled it in vinegar and still it just intermittently spits. I have used a wire to clean it, compressed air and vinegar. Do these things go bad? It's not exactly clogged up all the way. Air does get through, just not enough, I guess. I saw one flippin' geyser going on ebay for like 50.00. That's nuts! What can I do to get this working again?

May have a sharp piece of silica blocking it wedged in there good. Vinegar will not work for silica. Maybe try strikign it gently with a hammer to try and dislodge whatever is stuck in there then high pressure water from the top to see if it can be forced out.

I had a problem with my Geyser and I had a hard time finding a wire of sufficient hardness and flexibility to run in it. I finally pulled a wire out of a wire brush and that did the trick. Just full of rock slug. I have not tried to use the ultrasonic cleaner or put a high pressure water flow through it. The wire worked good enough I have had no more problems. But I did learn that every time I shut off the machine to not let the geyser sit in the grind water. That was my original mistake and the rock slug builds up over time and plugs it.

If you have hardwater then soak it in CLR and it will usually fix it up.

I was told not to leave the geyser in the water after turning of the machine to also prevent water from being sucked up the line. Don't know if that is true or not. I have gotten in to the habit of pulling the geyser out of the water while the machine is running and shaking it out first so the air and shaking will help clean it out before turning off the machine.

I clean Gene every time I use it. The geysers have never sat in water. I don't have hard water, either. However, it is soaking in CLR now. I think it's like what vegasjames said. I think something is wedged in there. The last time I used it when it wasn't clogged I was doing a lot of grinding on a slabette. A lot of rock snot fell on the geysers.

I have a dental pick that I use to ream out the holes if they get clogged up. I profess to being a slob and leaving them in the water. That usually does the trick for me. Everybody ask your dentist to save you some dental picks. They throw them away all the time.
Also, when was the last time you oiled your leathers?

Not withstanding the info from hummingbirdstones, dental picks can usually be picked up at any gun show where a vendor is selling cleaning supplies. That's where I've gotten mine.

I regularly oil my leathers. There's plenty of air coming out. I hooked the "good" geyser up to that line and it works fine. I have dental picks, too. I have a lot of tools leftover from my glassblowing days. I stuck some wires in all the holes. It seems like the issue is between the line in and the top hole. But, I could be wrong.

This wouldn't dislodge a wedged-in particle, but you can easily blow out any light debris while the pump is running. Just place a finger or thumb on the geyser hole for a second or two.

Well, heck. Do you have access to an ultrasonic you could put it in for a bit and see if that helps? Otherwise, I'd just keep picking at it with a dental pick until you eventually dislodge whatever's stuck in there.

Getting ready to boil it in vinegar and then test it. I'm sure that won't help, but it was a first step.

Is there a jeweler near you that you can ask to use their ultrasonic for a few minutes?
If all else fails, this is the least expensive replacement I've come across so far:

Awesome, thanks. Much better than the other prices I've seen.

I was intrigued by your description of "rock snot" verrry funny! Years ago when our son was small, he would hang out on the steps while I cleaned out the slab saw and we would talk. He asked what I was doing? I said I was cleaning out the muck (Broken rock in a mine) and mire ( muddy slime). So after that our pet name for him was Muck Mire. We thought it was funny until we were in public and someone asked his name he introduced himself and John Mark the Muck Mire. Then we had to explain all that. We stopped that nickname after that. Good think I did not know about rock snot then:)

If that still does not work then another suggestion would be to head the geyser body really quick with a torch. The expansion may crush whatever is stuck inside making it easier to flush out.

THAT'S a good idea! After the clr soak and a boil in the vinegar, it is spitting again, but not as much as the other one. I also ran a heavy wire down the inlet hole and met some resistance which dissipated.

Whenever I had a flow problem. I made sure there was plenty of water in the tray and held my finger over the output hole causing the water to reverse flow.

Was the head completely submerged. I have a gallon rubbermaid plastic bowl with a handle. I mix the coollube in with the water and use it to pour into the trays. I drop the head into the bowl of water and cover the top hole. My Genie pump belt some time ago and my left wheels are frozen. I use aquarium pumps and brass heads (not genie) and two under a wheel provides plenty of water.
