NICE rock, interesting assortment!
Thats probably how they should look after 2nd stage. It's hard to tell exactly. After shaping in 60/90 I don't really notice too much difference until the #500 stage. Then they start to take on a matte like finish, and you'll notice the water dries off of them real fast.
Keep up the good work!

I never notice a whole lot of visual change as you move through the stages, until polish of course. But the rocks should feel noticeably smoother and more slippery after each consecutive stage. Wetting them gives a fair idea of how they will look polished.
Most of your stones look well rounded and free of pits, so absolutely ready to move on. I'd set those big gnarly white ones (some kind of agate?) aside though, and put them back into coarse grind sometime for better shaping.

ok...thnx for the info/compliments!!! i do notice a smoother feel now that you mention it... i am not sure exactly what i have...i am new to this and dont know names of rocks like mexican lace, blah blah....but i do know them scientificaly. the rocks seperated, in the upper left corner are all fossils...the large one is petoskey stone. the long terd looking thing is a coral. and the little ones are a coralesk...but i dont know exactly. as for the others, i know i have several agates from northern michigan. some quartz from there as well. in fact now that i think about it all of these came from there except the feldspar and pink quarts stone. the dark stones seem to be greywack...the dark piece in the center is the same stone but it has a huge chunk of green quartz in it. cant wait to see it thats all i know about these stones. oh...the big narly ones are an agate (from missouri)...good ID rollingstone! i have them in there as filler..gonna break them up later after i have the tools. anyway...i hope they come out...i just have to let them do it...

You've got some interesting pieces in there Eric, just remember, patience is the key. Make sure you get them as smooth as you want in the first stage or you won't be happy in the last.
