Bought 5 acres in a remote and rugged section of the Appalachians. 45,000 acres of Nat. Forest mountain wilderness to east and west of this small valley. Lots of higher altitude ground water, springs, creeks and major river heads abound in this area. Etowah, Toccoa and Chestatee all within a mile circle. Many forest roads to explore, rocks to be found, complex plant life, best of mature hardwood forests, weird conifers. However the building sites are often hilly and need extreme grading. So I rented a big excavator and tried my hand at it for the first time. Intimidating experience to say the least, took about 2 hours to get the hang of it, the remaining 10 hours went smoothly. Must have plucked up several 100 small stumps and a dozen big stumps and got them stacked and burned. Hit rock which limited the depth of the finish grade. Granite gneiss with some fine milk quartz lenses. Heavy rain on Sunday did not help matters and forced a 12 hour Saturday. I ran the machine fast to finish in one day and it beat me up including a very upset stomach. Check it out. a beautiful spring fed creek wraps the graded area. The creek will be the focus off the cabin's front porch. The lot is 950 feet deep, the SE corner is much higher in elevation and will allow a view to the adjacent mountains.       Descriptions of terrain is a whole different language. saddles gaps ridges draws bottoms knobs ridges branches springs heads passes coves creeks cut-backs falls cuts pools clearings logs stands valleys views Hiking in a straight line near impossible. Getting turned around and lost very possible. Almost none of the timber is cut so trees are mature and are always blocking views.  |

Knew you must be on some kind of mission, been pretty quiet. Figures that you're out putting in some hard work somewhere. That looks like an Adventureland for someone like you, who likes to be out in the middle of it all. Can't wait to see your progress reports on this property. That looks like an Adventureland for someone like you, who likes to be out in the middle of it all. Can't wait to see your progress reports on this property. If you need to offload those Rios before you make a move, let me know!!! It's a cabin get away from primary home here in Atlanta like the Florida spot. Quiet yes, get addicted to carrying on with the likes of you and Jean and others. Had to exercise some discipline and pull away to take care of stuff. You being a fine photographer could sure tear up some film pixels up there as the scenery is beholding. Only hillbilly country, not mountaineer territory like Tennessee. Some hills over 4000 feet and all rarely travelled due to steep conditions. The building codes are strict on this one so rules may have to be followed verbatim. |

Last dream Tela at 62 yrs old. Had the Florida spot for 20 years, this one is going to have to serve another 20 years or until the end which ever comes sooner. Like The Florida spot, a good property at a good price. Guessing it will sell for a profit and cost little to have and enjoy. Purchased from 5th generation mountain folks. Been wanting property up there for 4 decades so it was a strong desire to acquire this. |

Lots of gold in those hard to reach creeks. May have to fix up a tiny back pack gold dredge powered by a modern lithium battery to vacuum seams and crevices. |

Where we live it gets real hot and humid, too. We like to take the bridge tunnel over to the Eastern Shore of VA. A 20 mile car ride and the temps drop by about 15 degree or better. And, there is a nice breeze coming off the ocean. It's really nice and peaceful over there. We always say we'd like to retire there.
