Well, I guess the old part is a given. But this one looks old if that makes sense. One of my better fairburns, with patterns around the entire rock. I was lucky enough to find this one yesterday. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it look better. For sure I'm throwing it in Iron Out but I'm considering tumbling it. It's hard to tell from the pics but I'm not sure if tumbling will destroy the design or help to bring it out more. Any advice is appreciated and as always thanks for looking!

After the soak, if you decide to tumble it just check on it every 2-3 days if you are worried about losing detail. I run a lot of my self collected agate through a quick tumble (after a soak) to see what's going on. A quick wet sanding works great too and you can work a smaller area without sacrificing the original.

I'm hoping I can bring out some more detail and colors, it may just be a stone that wants to be bland.

That almost looks like a FB Bubblegum cross.

That almost looks like a FB Bubblegum cross. I didn't think of that but now that you mention it I think so, too. I wonder if that's a thing? I know bubblegums can show fairburn-like patterns.

Nice find! I love the textures created by natures own tumbler. After the soak in Iron Out, I would not tumble it. You'd be replacing a cool natural texture with a blingy surface. Just my 2 cents. Lynn

Well, a couple days in Iron Out so I thought I'd post the results. I think it helped bring out some of the colors. I'm teetering on the line but I think I'm going to tumble this for a week and see what happens. Thanks for looking.

That really does look old. It looks like an old tom cat with torn ears, missing eye, mange and a limp. LOL! But, that's a good thing for a rock- not for a cat. Seriously, I would probably want a light tumble to knock some yuck off.

Awesome even weathered and worn. I wouldn't tumble or cut it if it were mine.
