Wow, those look kind of smooth on the outside. I thought bubblegum agates were supposed to be lumpy and look like abc gum.

Did you use a hammer and chisel to split them? Was there much waste or did they split into two halves?

Are you supposed to split them open or do they expose this part once they're tumbled for a while?

Ok I tried to post earlier and I just got an erroe- so lets try again- 5 lbs Bubblegum agate at the Rock Shed was 13.50- I got about 25-30 pieces in the bag- They cracked open pretty well with a hammer and chisel- and there was very little waste. I broke only the borning ones- figured what the heck- Nothing to lose (and for once I was right!) Some of the ones I left alone show pretty good banding- The picture does not show it but there are some pretty gnarly ones that will probably tumble along in 3 or 4 batches. They are going into my rotary (as that is all I have) Not sure when they will get in- I have a bunch of Ocean Jasper that is up next (I might just toss in a Bubblegum or 2) I am planning for a 2 barrel Thumblers but that is probably 6 months away! I have my kiddie tumbler but it is kinda small so not sure how these guys would work- As I just started 120/220 this weekend I still have a wait.
