Duel barrel, 3 lb. model.
The good, the so-so, bad and the ugly...
The good:
A great, entry level tumbler, but from what I have heard, overall quality is hit or miss.
Price from Harbor Freight, can be as low as $42.00, maybe lower.
Very quite running. Mine is in utility room. Placed some toolbox style shelf liner on top of clothes dryer and there it sits.
Very low heat output.
Sometimes, I am running one 3lb barrel and one 1lb barrel with no problems (after tweaking).
This model uses mostly the same parts as the Lortone. The barrel components can be replaced with Lortone ones.
The so-so:
Based on info on RTH, I immediately replaced the belt with an O-ring style one from local hardware store. Purchased 3 belts from them for less than $2.00. After 1 year of almost constant running, am still on first belt.
I checked alignment and tightness of belt.
Weekly maintenance is required. I clean the shafts near bearings and apply new carbine oil. Check/adjust (if needed) belt tightness.
The more I use mine, the better it is. The first 6 months were touch and go. Probably due to my learning the needs of the tumbler.
The bad:
As mentioned above, overall quality can be hit or miss.
Weekly maintenance required, may be bad for some.
Ugly:
The reputation this tumbler has received.
Knowing I am not using professional equipment. What many consider a step down from current "toy" tumblers.
Overall, I would give mine **** of *****, only due to the tweaking and weekly maintenance.
Knowing that my present barrels would work with a Lortone, is a plus. Someday I will upgrade, but why should I when I have this tumbler dialed in?
