Well, sort of a cab. I dremeled this one last night for practice and left most of the host rock (limestone) both for contrast and because the actual agate portion is so small. Hopefully it takes a polish well. Thanks for looking.

Very nice! I see why you are searching for this material. Thanks! I hope I can do better with the nicer pieces, this was just my first experiment to see how it cut and how it was to work.

How do you think the Limestone will do in the tumbler? Never tried it but have broken it off of other rocks we have and it was really soft. Or are you doing this all the way with the Dremel?

Al Actually what I think I'm going to do is throw this piece in my 33b and see what happens. It's more gentle than my 6 pound barrels. I just want to see what happens. My long term plan is to tumble them alone (like obsidian)- after I make enough cabs- with plastic pellets. I think that should work. But I really don't know much so take that for what it's worth, I'm still super-new at this.

I've cut Tee Pee before and you have to leave some of the host rock around it to frame the agate. It polishes up just fine with regular cabbing. Can't say what will happen in the tumbler, though.

Thanks! I threw it in last night just to see what happens. I also tried to cut another last night and it pretty much broke into unusable pieces. It wasn't a nice one I was just experimenting before I started on the good ones. Is that normal or is it just like any other rock, you never know?

I like the contrast on it. Hope the tumbler treats it nicely.

Here's an updated pic after a couple of days in the tumbler. I want to start working some of the other pieces so I had to peek this morning. So far so good I think, it's holding up nicely.

Thank you, sir. This was one I picked as an experimental piece- I think it shows me that I can work the better pieces and they should turn out nice.
