I did another pass through my Riker boxes. Every pass I find stuff I hadn't sorted out. I knew about this box, but never looked at it closely. Largest cabs are smaller than a quarter. Most have polished backs. I could recognize some of the material. I doubt that there are two matching cabs.

Four I cut and the rest are from my wife's cab collecting days. Just curious- did you get into cabbing by seeing what your wife was collecting and that piqued your interest, or did she get interested in collecting after seeing cabs you produced? I just find it interesting how many got started. Just a year ago I had no idea what a cab was and now I'm trying to absorb everything I can. Al

She was interested in Reiki, healing power of crystals and minerals. Moved on to collecting cabs, slabs and rough. One day she got a black agate nodule and took it to a local lapidary to have it cut. He was using a 14" drop saw and it took a long time to cut so while we were waiting he showed her how to cab and I watched. On a subsequent visit He showed me and I bought some used lapidary equipment from him. I liked wood working and thought I could make cabs. It started as a collaborative effort where she designed, I cut and she reviewed my work. She tried making some cabs herself. Eventually, she lost interest and I did the design and cutting. She had a degree in studio art and a keen color eye and painted in oils and water colors. Over 15 years ago, I developed neuropathy in my feet and could no longer play golf. The nice thing for her was that I could do my new hobby at home. We did photography together and finding a scene in a rock is like taking a picture. I also would rather spend the money on lapidary material instead of cabs, because I got the enjoyment of making the cabs.

Makes my box of Silver start vibrating thinking of the cool jewelry that could be made. These are great.
