Have a private dig at the Hogg next week. What are you hounds favorite gloves to wear in that environment? Thanks all.

I personally dislike wearing gloves and have bandages in my truck, just in case. Pure leather gloves get hard after they have been wet from rain, puddles (or blood). I have had the best luck with suede garden gloves and would suggest coloured ones so you can find them again after taking off and wandering away. At the end of the day, the best gloves are the ones you have onhand. I have not been there but my understanding about that mine is most success is just digging in the dirt for loose crystals of beryl (aquamarine), tourmaline, and rose quartz. At any dig like this, you will want a small shovel or trowel, hand rake, bucket, rock hammer and chisel (and eyeglasses). Recently, I have also been taking an old chopstick with me, which I find pretty useful for popping out crystals from mud or vugs. Sounds like you are in for some fun. Good luck!

Rose quartz is a massive crystal stucture so the Hogg mine is a open pit of solid rose quartz. There are pieces the size of a bus. You will be walking over solid quartz. Your problem won't be finding rose quartz but in picking out of the plethora what you want!!! LOL. Take hloves, they are cheap so get a new pair of leather and use them.
