Would appreciate any input on what this might be. Found at location on my Avitar. New photos, some close up are at bottom. Has more black/grey than most I find like this. Some crystal pockets are smokey quartz. It has been scrubbed. The black lines are part of the rock. Hardness of about 7.5 overall. Size reference is the paper it is on is 5" x 7". Weight about 2.5 lbs. Appears to have some areas of shell/coral fossils. Thank you. Hopefully these will help with ID. The more I look at it, the more fossils I am finding. Some of the black areas are also slightly magnetic? Meteor dust? This area is especially interesting. The cavity is about 3/8" deep. The protrusion coming from it is about 1/4" . The blue grey area at to[ has some flash to it. Some other photos. In hand under magnification, I can see what appears to be shell remnants. Some chain coral type markings. Chrinoid segments? Quartz replacement of other critters? I would not call this a death plate, but maybe a death blob? It is so fascinating. fossilman do you have any input? @tiovio ? fuss ? Anyone else? Thank you

This one will fall into the same category as the ones from your last haul. Basically its a chert rock, it probably has a mixture of microcystalline quartz, calcium carbonates, fossil fragments, iron oxides etc..the magnetic portions could possibly be a magnetite sand accumulation, which there is plenty of (the black sand portions on lake Michigan beaches are that) but that's just a guess. Some of these form geode cavities with nice druzy quartz crystals. Another interesting thing this could do is fluoresce under long wave uv light. Some fluoresce a dull yellow to orange and sometimes mixed with blue and or green depending on the mineral mix.
