Photobucket appeared to be down so i tried to use Villagephotos to post this latest batch and couldn't get it to work for the life of me so finally photobucket came back up! high technology really can be a pain in the butt. anyway! couldn't help but play with the arrangement to make little flowers, you know i have cabin fever! this batch spent 2 weeks in coarse grind, 2 weeks in 120/220, 2 weeks in prepolish and one day shy of two weeks in Tin Oxide polish. a mix of agates and jasper and quite a few "idaknowites". thanks for looking! OMG What is that stuff in the second to the last pic, it's absolutely gorgeous? Oh, and the pink stuff in the second pic, what's that? I want some ... more to add to the wish list! The agates are stunning ... KD, it's all beautiful!
Dang, drooling all over my keyboard, wish I had some gorgeous stuff like that to wrap.

KD, I think that's your prettiest batch to date. I can tell youre being picky about your cuts, starting to look like some of Bearcreeks stuff. Could you tell us a little more about what they are? cookie

I NEED TO KNOW.... What's that blue stuff, the purple stuff and the centre "flower" on the first picture?? It all looks so yummy - like candies...... Those are great - wish I could get some flat stuff instead of lumpy rocks - can I use my dad's bench saw? I'm sure he'd like me after doing that!!! Just beautiful rocks! I waaaaaaaaaaaaant some!

thanks for all the great praise, i'll see if i can identify some of it. the stuff in the second to the last pic is some dyed agate! there was a thread not too long ago about dyed rock. it does look a little fake-o but it'll make a few nice jewelry pieces.
the pink "flower" in the second pic is "Rhyolite" (sp?) kind of soft and it got REAL small, i probably shouldn't have run it as long as i did. the edges didn't polish as well as the face and i'm going to have to finish them on the grinder.
the first "flower" is an agate slab, kinda like Connrocks puzzles? ok, not quite!
there is some other swirly jasper, should have done a close up on those and some granite that came out kinda pocky.
there are some other agate in there that has some good swirlies that almost looks like Botswana, but it ain't.
oh, and there is one piece of Chrysacolla that was a real disappointment, as it was the only piece to survive. it looked too soft for the grinder so i tried to tumble, i should have just chucked in the whole piece instead of trying to cut it. live and learn.
thanks again!

you can try www.angelfire.com/oh5/ojhoff/index.htmli've had excellent product from them but you have to deal either on the phone or through email..they have no cart! AND they don't update often so what you see is often sold. but they are mainly cool. i think it was a grandpa thing and the kids are trying to make a go of it. KD

Those are very nice. On the dyed rocks you will want to make sure you seal them with something. My sister had some dyed rocks and I was checking it out and I got dye on my hands. Tami

hey, Stefan, i am about an hour east of Syracuse!
Rose, that is some kind of jasper swirly stuff, not sure what kind now.
billyd, most of the stuff i cut is eyeballed, but between 1/4" or slightly thinner, depending on how good a grip i can get on the rock. some of this batch was bought as slabs and i just cut it into shapes.
thanks again for all the kind remarks,
KD

i'm about 12 miles north of Utica, overlooking the Mohawk Valley, nestled in the foothills of the Adirondacks, on the shore of the Nine Mile Creek.
about 20 minutes up the road from the Herkimer Diamond Mine!

COOL I love your neck of the woods- Some pretty good collecting in that area. I have a local shop that talks about the gold panning they do in the mohawk valley- Not a lot of gold but I guess they usually get some flour gold!
