Got my care package from Utah today. It will be fun learning how to clean it up. I got 40 lbs of it!

I have only polished one piece of Blue Forest. I want to remove the "algae" from the outside. got this one in an acid bath, from what I have been reading, it will take a bit of work to clean it up.

I've had a few pieces where the algae would pry off if I soaked it in water for a few days. Muriatic acid helped on some and not so much on others. Never know till you try. A lot of the material is real dark after you cut it and may brighten up if you bleach it. I only bleach after final polish because it doesn't penetrate very deep if it's highly agatized.

Typically I cut the BF before the acid bath, the calcite helps to hold things together. Once done with the bath, collect all the agate pieces in the tub - you may (or may not) want to do some rehab and reattach them. Key to exceptional polish with BF, as you well know with all wood, is getting the oil out before polishing. I have found BF to particularly sensative to this. I absolutely love diggin, cutting and preping this material... Looking forward to seeing your finished specimens. Cheers

Amazing piece. I would love something like this to slice to preserve the vugs. Face polish on both sides.
Please share detailed progress reports.

A heel cut I worked on today. Will go back on the polisher for a bit longer.
