My granddaughter graduated, my grandson had his birthday, we celebrated Father's Day and my son's birthday. In between all that, I got a few cabs done. Since I only had time for a few, I tried to make them count.
really big covellite. Nice one, too.
a so so morgan hill- I find it hard to dig into the good stuff. red brecciated jasper agate- these are really popular a large bruno- could almost be a belt buckle. I love this stuff and polishing it is so rewarding! outside photo of covellite- this has lots of magenta, but it only picks up in outside pictures at low angles to the light. Josephine's Crown Thanks for looking.

Beautiful cabs. Isn’t Bruneau awesome? It’s one of the few that keeps improving clear to 50K. I don’t go beyond 14K for most. Bruneau and Montana moss go to 50K. Thanks for showing your work. Most impressive.

I take almost everything- except most quartzy stones, to 100k. It's really not much more effort, so I usually do it. Almost everything improves a little. EXCEPT for a richterite that was ruined on the 100k. The polish was NOT improved, but ruined (and so was a pink opal, which I believe was stabilized). Gotta go back to 220 soft on the richterite, I think. Its like polishing sugilite.

I am becoming a fan of that covellite Next to psilomelane, it is the messiest stuff to cab. And it is super soft. But the hardest part is, it's really hard to see what you're doing past the 220/280. It starts to polish, but you can see the direction of polish. It's like vacuuming a plush carpet and raising the pile as you go. It's hard to see bevels and scratches as you work. I go real slow.

Holy crap. Gorgeous work, Tela! That magenta in the covellite is so beautiful... ( ) Thanks. I have a HUGE museum cab in one of my riker boxes that shows the magenta very clearly at nearly every angle, wet or not. Absolutely amazing and generally elusive.

miket You asked. LOL! About covellite- It is very hard to get pics of the magenta, but I think you can see in the pictures of the back of the stone, without the shine and reflection, that this is loaded. I took pictures of the front, but you just have to imagine that everywhere there is color, it is 100 times better in person.

Wow! Beautiful Covellite! And I'd never seen Josephine's Crown before - really lovely! Josephine's Crown is a hodge podge of different metals including gold and silver. Not that anyone could tell. There is so much pyrite, I wouldn't know the gold if I saw it. But, it is nice all the same.
