I am so excited!! I enrolled in the International Gem Society Professional Gemologist certification course a few months ago and I just got confirmation that I passed!! I'd never had any formal gemology courses before, so this was mainly based on all the self-collected knowledge of stones that I had accumulated over the years.

The practical exam was a little intimidating, but actually very fun to do! Correctly identify 15 numbered, but unlabeled, gemstones that they sent to me after I passed 3 written exams. This included identifying synthetics and treatments. Challenging, but fun! I recommend it if anyone is interested: www.gemsociety.org

Thanks! One night my husband came home and found me bent over a microscope looking at these stones. I laughed and told him, "In High School, I thought I'd never have to use a microscope again, but here I am...."

rocknrob: There was a shop in Portland, don't know if it's still there called Kenny and Zukes who made the absolute best pastrami sandwiches I have ever had. The problem is every restaurant thinks their sandwich is worth $20 now and seldom makes the grade. Nov 12, 2024 9:53:31 GMT -5
