Let me start out by saying that I know nothing about slab saws in particular. I do know a fair amount about saws a equipment in general. I quickly got tired of my little 7" tile saw for cutting rocks. It only has a cut depth of about 1". I found this and a Fran Tom unit for a little less than $200 on CL. First order of business, get the frozen up hood off so it can be cleaned, repaired and new hinges put on. Next is to figure out why in the world the previous owner was sawing the sled. The pic is right above the blade (coming out of top/right) as it was fitting into the mounting support of the sled. I took the blade off and found out there was a bushing of some sort installed behind the blade, instead of in front. All better now, except the blade is totally shot and need a new one. I've been reading some of the blade discussions here for some advice. I was shocked that the cap to the hydraulic reservoir came off by hand. I was prepped for a fight. That's all for now. I've got to get the shop vac and clean the mud/rats nests out of the tub and test it for leaks with some H2O, before I put $80-$100 worth of oil in there. I also want to put a slightly more modern motor (out of my existing collection) on and am going to have to figure out what length belt to buy. If I get a cheapish blade, I'm thinking I'll be up and running for another $300. I don't know a lot about these things but I'm thinking that $500 isn't too bad for this size unit. I also have the FranTom below that I don't know what to do with. More to come as I rehab the saw.

Very nice. If you need oil for it you can check out Stellar Lubricants. Kevin is a cool guy with a shop many of us could only dream of! Check out the About Us page. That's only half his shop. www.stellarlubricants.com

Hello, did you have any issues with the hydraulic feed ? On my Great Western the rubber on the internal piston wore out to where there was no control of the carriage feed if so did you find another part ?
