Big time wow! That is a georgeous pattern. I am not sure it is opalized. The spot where it appears glowing might produce opal fire, but like a Mexican Opal, not a traditional opal. That selection of Pet wood, will make very interesting slab and cabachon stock. It will also facet real well. That is some really nice stuff.

I have no idea if that is opalized or not, but you've got some really great patterns in that petrified wood. Should be really interesting whether you slab, cab or tumble it. Looks like some of it is quite agatized. Keep us posted on what you do with this.

Here is a piece of opalized wood that I got from the couple that I got the saw/grinder/buffer from. So it is possible that your pieces are opalized wood. I found that my opalized wood is very light in weight. Tami

wow!! Thanks for the picture! Nice to know that your stuff is light in weight too. All other pet wood I have tumbled is hard and heavy. But the o.pet wood is a chanllage to me to tumble, but I will get the hang of it Juniper

Hello Juniper,
That looks like Opalized Wood to me. I have some that I picked up in Oregon some years back.
Opalized wood is fairly soft and the colors that can be found are absolutely gorgeous!
I would definitely keep a close eye on the pieces that are currently being tumbled ... they will go quick!
Great color and pattern, you will definitely have to keep us up to date with the photo's ;D
