I'm going to be in Southeast Ohio in a couple of weeks. Anybody know what kind of rocks I could pick up down there?

Hey otter,, Here's a few links to get ya started. Ohio (Rock Collecting Sites) www.nb.net/~downs/sites/oh.htm www.gemandmineral.com/states/ohio.htmlGeology of Ohio. This page has links to information about geological resources and hazards, environmental hazards, and geologic maps. < www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/gen/gen.htm > Educational Resources. This page has lots of good links, including the two listed below. < www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/edu/edu.htm > GeoFacts. This page links to several articles about Ohio rocks and minerals. < www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/geo_fact/geo_fact.htm > Educational Leaflets. A few of the leaflets are online as PDF files, including a very detailed one about coal in Ohio. (See note about Adobe Acrobat, above). < www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/pub/eduleaf.htm > I really don't think there's much to collect except flint in Ohio but the flint is beautiful and takes a fantastic polish. Ive never collected there so this is the best I can do for ya! Make sure you let us all know how you make out there. Hope this helps,,,,,,,,,, Tom

Thanks for the links Tom. I'll look them over. I will definitely let you all know if I find anything.
