Ooooo, Love the pink black and green, that would be a pretty batch if it could be tumbled together. Sorry I have no tips at all on that stuff.
Ok, I'll bite, what you talkin about? ;D

When we went up to the Gem shop, and met Karen, we started talking and I mentioned I also built a pond in the back yard and she got real excited and told me she wanted one with a stream flowing to the main pond, but didn't know who to talk to about it. So I'm hoping to get her into ponding. I know this is a rock forum and hope I don't get into trouble, but here is a pic of mine.

i have attemped to respond to this 3 or 4 times and somehow keep getting distracted. i searched on basalt and the most i can find is that it's a lava rock, 7 on moh, that it's igneous. can you tumble igneous rocks?

Nice pics earth,
Love your pond too I put plenty rejects rocks in my manmade stream haha. Yes I do have a pond too , just a wee bit bigger than the one in your foto.
I stole some bits of Basalt from a dutch dyke ...pardon the hole... and tumbled them . did them no good . and would not shine.

Basalt can be tricky- depends on how "glassy" it is- That stuff looks pretty glassy to me so it should take a shine!

Hey edog. You got some nice looking rough there. Nice pond too. Maybe you should build the pond for the rock shop people and ask to be paid in rough rock. Ed

Your picture of the pink opal looks like rose quartz, it also looks like a large rock that my mother picked up somewhere that now has it in the front flower bed. Tami

Back in TX I had 2 above ground ponds and one below ground. 2 waterfalls. 12 Koi and about 150 goldfish. When we dug the pond (my late husband assured me it would just be a shallow "bog pond" for plants, it was 4 feet deep) we threw in 4 large goldfish and within the hour, they were spawning up a storm. That's how I ended up with 150 of them. I only know how many because a local Pet Smart offered me $1 a piece for what they got out of the pond. (I had to sell all the fish after my husband passed and I needed to move). They were even suprised at how many there were in this little 6"x3'x4' pond. The Koi were such a joy, 2 of them would eat out of my hand. One my husband liked to pick up occationaly. I hated that and thought it was cruel untill he showed me how it would come the top of the pond and more or less "present" it's self to be briefly held. I think that's one of the few things I miss about living there. How I do go on cookie

Never tumbled Opal before; Pink Opal is Opal, isn't it? That Basalt looks just like obsidian, except for the white on the right side, I'd imagine it has similar characteristics. Nice Pond, Gotta work on the shine of the surrounding stones, ha ha ;D Chrles
