I haven't seen anyone mention this one. At the local rock store they had some chunks of novaculite. I fell in love with this light purple (it's very light) with brown spots and it tumbled so well. Apparently this stuff comes from Arkansas and comes in many different colours. It's a chert that can be used for flint-knapping. Here's more info: www.state.ar.us/agc/novaculi.htmRecipe: - 45/70 (coarse) for 18 days
- 220 for 7 days
- prepolish for 6
- then back up to 600 for 8 days cuz it wasn't shining enough yet
- back to prepolish for 7 days
- polish for 7 days
- Jeff is happy with the results!
Out of focus, but it still looks good.

Did your fingers go numb when you handeled it? (Nova-culite, Nova-cain... ;D) That's very pretty. I love working with chert/flint and for it to be purple would be too much fun! Great job!

Titanium polish - the cheap stuff. Works good.
Nope - no numbness! I must be immune.

Very pretty stone, I like the pale purple. Never heard of it before now -- always cool to see something completely new!
