Found these the other day in my driveway. Both are very light. Hardness of about 7 in most places, but others are less than 5. The driveway gravel came from a local pit, so similar geology to my land. Am thinking the top one might be hollow, based on weight. This one is about 1.5". Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

No idea, but I'd be itching to cut the one on top in half just hoping it is hollow and wanting to see what might be inside.

These are most likely Quartz in some form, quartzite, milky, chalcedony, chert etc.. very similar or the same material as the last couple you posted based on the photos and location found. But you will need to go further in testing these (and the others) to find out for sure. You need to crack one open to see fresh material, and use magnification such as a 10x loupe or even a good magnifying glass to examine it for clues. An acid test using a drop of dillute HCL (cheap, and available most hardware stores) can also be informative to see if instead it may be a calcium carbonate based rock (which is also possible).

Thanks. I think they are chalcedony based. I checked under a lighted magnifier with a 5x loup.
The lightness was what I was interested in.

Have seen small geodes like that, same colors and material... All quartz in the interiors....

Thanks. They are now stashed away to be sawed later.
