Here is my first attempt at beading a cab. It is a mini cab. Not sure what the stone is (I'm open to any names), it's a soft stone, opaque white with "mica/vermiculite" bits in it doesn't polish extremely well - Leaverite maybe??? I tried this out to see if I could do this. For some reasone this stone takes to this shape very well. I have 3-4 and they all came out in this general shape. This one has a penny for sizing Thanks for looking...

Tweet- What the- That came out sooo cool- How did you do that- with a Dremel? WoW- Oh the rock looks like Marble- maybe? or a very fractured quartz. How did you get the shine? Nice job!

I didn't do anything to the stone, it is a perfect "cab" shape - all this type of rock comes out oval like this for some reason, I don't find it shines up very well, more like a very smooth surface but a shiny matte finish.

Hey Tweetie, I think it looks more like Quartzite, which is a metamorphic form of Quartz. It does shape up like that and I've never had much luck getting a good shine on it. Like most Quartzite, it has impurities that just serve to compound the polishing problem.
Ron
ps. I like your work though! Really turned out nice.

I strayed away from gluing it to a piece of something. (I had nothing to glue it to or any "good" glue for that matter) The back is beaded closed as well. I'll try to bead a loop for it - I have a beaded necklace that would be perfect for this. I'll post a pic once I get it completed. Thing is, this was my third try, twice in silver but I found that the color didn't make the stone & the "colors" within pop enough so I redid it in gold. I like this technique, now if only I could get some decent stones to bead around.....*hurry tumbler*

I actually wanted to wire cwrap (no it's not misspelled, it looks nothing like the real wraps I've seen here - I keep hoping) *maybe one day* So I tried to do this, it's very simple. If anyone is interested, I have the web site bookmarked at work, I'll post it here if you want. I thought it was complicated, but it's not. Just have to find the right shape rock to do this. Hoping my present batch in 220 will yield something nice - I have beads coming out my wazoo, I must find something to do with them...

Very very cool, need to see the back too. I really like that and think it would be pretty easy to work some wire through it to make a bail. Very nice job and yes, please post the link to the webpage.

Sure looks like one to me too. Do you collect coins too? How can you afford another hobby?

Hooray for you, that is a nice first "mock"cab. Is that right out of the tumbler. I mean did you grind it to shape first? In any event you seem to be having fun. I save any old penny old nickels, or silver I come across; BTW all the "Wheat" pennies are worth at least 2cents each! Charles
