I don't know about the saint part but At one time I carved an elephant out of ebony and a chain out of Brazilian hardwood. this is going pretty fast by comparison!

I have been using a vibro engraving tool and some work with dental tools. fairly slow, but what I am removing is mostly what I believe is ash and is not agatized. Some of the other pieces of it that I have are too solid for this method.
