I used 120/220 as step 1. It seems to make a mess in my barrol. I tumbled 1/2 inch and smaller ocean rocks with a mix of ceramic media. For the TV5 owners out there, is this the correct grit to use as the first stage in a vib tumbler or should I start with 220 grit instead? Just learning so all help is much appreciated.

From the look of things, I would say the gunk in your tub is the rock snot from the grinding your doing. I suspect your first stage worked well, don't fix it ! If you are not happy with some stones , pick them out and run with the next batch of stage one. If you do (NOT) have sludge in the tub, ------- then something is wrong !

Thanks for the advise. In your opinion is 120/220 ok to run in a vib tumbler?
