I have a lortone panther 14" saw, 10" trim saw and a 6" jewlery saw. I need to get a new blade for my 10" saw and thought I would post a question on what is the best brand of saw blades to get for all these saws and where to but them.
Thanks for the advice

Are you using water or oil in your 10” saw

I think MK or Barranca is your best quality. Ukam has been recommended to me by a trusted dealer, they may be my next purchase. He says they are made by the same Korean mfr. as MK/Barranca. www.ukam.com/lapidaryblades.htm

I just mounted a new 8 inch MK303 on my trim saw. I like them a lot. The previous one was a Barranca that I got on ebay. I got this one on ebay and it had a picture of the Barranca with a description of Mk303. I guess they are the same. This one looked different than previous one. Gold circles instead of steel. It also had and arrow showing rotation direction. I usually put the label toward the arbor but the arrow indicated the opposite direction.

This place is not too far from my house, and I'm in their area often. I'm betting a visit is in the near future, even though I'm just using a tile saw to trim down rough. I'd like to hear what they say and what they might recommend for what I'm doing. If this isn't the place to go to, I'll give the MK 225 a shot next time around.

I paid $71 with tax and delivery on ebay. If UKAM had my arbor size I would have saved 10% but they only have 5/8. I could but a 5/8 arbor .032 on Amazon for $42.97 plus tax with free shipping with Prime. They have a .025 with a one inch arbor on Amazon for $39.28. I bought one and they are too flexible to be used for trim saw work. I bought two 303 with a 5/8 arbor by either my mistake or their mistake. I enlarged the hole on one and really don't have the equipment. So I have another to enlarge if I want to bother. Comparison shopping is essential.

I swore by the MK-303 and 301, and on my hand feed, I used the MK-225 because it took more abuse. Started using them 10 years ago.
Ones bought in the last year or two, the do not seem to be cutting as well, and need conditioning more often. I cut a lot of jasper and rhyolite, so maybe I'm not inthe cneter of the design space.
Anyway, the best blade is one with the right mix of coarseness/aggressiveness, kerf, and lifetime for the kind of rock you want to cut, the speed of your saw's feed, and how pricey your material is. It is hard to make a one size fits all recommendation.

I just received 2 MK 225's yesterday based on the reviews of many. I'm pretty religious about conditioning and swaging (when needed), so it'll be interesting to see how the blades hold up.

I just pulled a 225 off our old 10" saw - worn down to the core. It was still cutting (although more slowly) right up 'till the end.
This is a hand-feed saw with a fence. Before I made the fence, I rounded the edge of a 225 by not always keeping the blade square in the cut. I'll be able to fix it and use it later on. Counting the one I just pulled off, I've worn four or five others down to the core without a problem.
I use a 303 on our HP 10" for smaller, softer, or more valuable rough. Like deb193redux said, blade choice depends on how it will be used.

I bought a 8 inch .032 MK303 equivalent on ebay for $10 less than the Mk303 on Amazon. It works great and I ordered two more. I ream these out to 1 inch to work on my trim saw. I use a hand power drill and typically the rim doesn't wear evenly. Either I perfectly centered the hole or this one wore evenly. www.ebay.com/itm/120998610703?hash=item1c2c14470f:g:wUcAAOSwPcJVRlSZ

I wonder how that blade would do in 20" size.

There use to be a dealer on here for the MK blades, pretty fair prices too, if you were an RTH member... Can't remember the guys name though..
