I know everyone here likes looking at pictures as much as I do, so I thought I would try my hand at posting some of what I’m working on. Where they went and where they are now: 46/70-1 week. 60/90-1 week. 220-now. I plan on finishing it all off with: 1 week-500 1 week-1000 1 week-tripoli 1 week-alum. oxide polish. Here they are in rough, first: African queen jasper Arroyo picture jasper pained rock tiger eye mahogany obsidian Here they are going to 220, there is a couple of obsidian and two tiger eye in there also. and here is the 6 stone I got from the pit, where I work. They are going in 220 also today.

Hey E-dog, those are some great-looking stones you have there, and they look to be nicely shaped up going into 220.
I'm curious why are you are planning to run both 1000 and tripoli?... I always consider these as either/or.

I am under the impression that tripoli is just a bit finer than 1000 grit. Am I wrong?

I think you are right... I believe SISA is roughly equivalent to 1000 grit and tripoli is a bit finer. I just didn't think that an extra stage between 1000 and polish was going to add anything, but maybe you are onto something. Certainly can't hurt anything. It will be interesting to see your results.

Looking good Earth- I use the Tripoli (but forget to use that 1000) I like trip- I view it as a super fine scratch removal!
