1961 Geiger Counter Manufactured by Victoreen Instrument Co., CD V-700 Model 6A, 1961 Another treasure I brought back. This was given to me in the early 2000’s. It came from a municipal building which was a fallout shelter. The giver took it when the building was being cleaned/remodeled. He found it in a garbage pile. I think it is a cool piece of history. He knew that I was into preserving history, so gave it to me. It appears to be in excellent condition. I am a little concerned at the possibility there is some uranium under the sticker on one side. Apparently, these units included a small amount of Uranium for periodic unit testing. More info on the history of unit/uses here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_V-700What do you think? My Son in Law thought it was cool. My daughter would probably not appreciate it, lol.

Sweet! Very cool. My BIL has one. He uses old lantern socks for his source, so it shouldn't take too much.
