Wondering if anyone has used their slabbing and polishing service before?
Came across the site and charges .25 per square inch for cutting and .15 per square inch polishing. Seemed reasonable price for work that I dont have the equipment to do myself.

First time I've heard of them It does sound reasonable, but then you have to add in shipping fees.
It might pay for you to join your local club and have access to machines to do it yourself.

Thanks for reply. Yes, shipping would be biggest cost factor it would seem. Have a few semi small brazilian agates I'd like to have faced and polished that if I did math correctly would be about $3-4 a PC. But shipping is gonna be like 3 times that each way. Live on outskirts of Houston and know they have pretty big club but my current work schedule doesnt line up too well with their lapidary shop hours. Hopefully, that will be changing soon tho

How large are they? I am in the Houston area, Cypress northwest, which outskirts are you located in?

One is 3" ×2" and others are about the same. Main ones I'd like to have done are halves I split with chisel and hammer. Just need 1/4" -1/2" cut off each to get smooth face I think. Then polished.

I believe Orerockon.com is Tim Fisher. He has a very good reputation though I haven't personally used him.

Thanks catmandewe and gemfeller. I have reached out to him and hope to send him some rocks to have cut and polished soon. From looking further online it would seem his prices are far more reasonable than some others I came across (up to $1 per square inch). will also be looking to join local club once my work hours line up better with their open workshop times. Their rate is "small hourly fee" for workshop and .20 per square inch cutting surface. Would still work out significantly cheaper without needing to pay for postage.

Tim is good folks. He might be a slow response to emails for the rest of the mining season as he has a claim or two. His work is fabulous, his displays have got him several peoples choice prizes in shows.

Look forward to using his services and hopefully will remember to post before and after results. Theres got to be others here that could benefit from services like his. Thanks again for the input everyone!

I have considered joining the Houston Club, just haven't found the time which seems odd considering I have been retired for over 3 years now. I understand they have a well equipped shop. Have talked to several of their members over the years at their annual Show at the Humble Convention Center in the Fall. In place of joining the Club I have substituted this forum as a source of info, lot of very knowledgeable folks out here who have helped me a lot over the last couple of years. Also have a couple of good rockhound/lapidary friends whom I talk to regularly. That and I have accumulated a decent selection of old and used Lapidary equipment, 13 machines at last count and probably still growing(don't tell my wife!!) A suggestion, save the hammer and chisel for rocks you are going to tumble, flat polishing a broken un-even surface is going to take a lot more time. I have cut a few rocks for two or three people in the past. Unfortunately I find cutting the small rounded Brazilians to be problematic as they are difficult to clamp into the Saw. I do do have a good geode clamp, unfortunately it does not work real well with rocks smaller than 3 inches. Good luck Henry
