Hello.
I won't bore you with why I'm into rocks. I grew up in Oregon, and there seems to be lots of nice rocks there and great places to look for them. I've collected a bunch and now it seems the next step is tumbling and polishing. I've been doing so. Otherwise, the wife will offer-up something like an ultimatum.
I have a small collection of small to large agates I've collected in Oregon, Scotland, and here-and-there. Not many. I'm hoping to get feedback on how to treat specific specimens. Some seem destined for tumbling; others it seems would be foolish to do so. Before I toss my favs into the tumbler, I'd love to get feedback.
I live in California now, surrounded by quartz. I'm near Yosemite. That's me.

A warm Wisconsin welcome. To me, the only stupid question was the one that was never asked. Ask away.

We all had a bunch of stupid questions when we started. Thatās how we got so smart! Search this site for āiant Scottish agateā. Iant doesnāt post here anymore, but he used to post pictures of the most beautiful agates from Scotland. He would cut them in half before tumbling in a Lot-O tumbler. I would follow his lead.
Welcome to the site.
