With the long summers in Az, projects go on hold. I need to get the sphere machine fired up soon. Cubes ready to be cut into preforms. Preforms that need to be ground down. Sphere in various phases. Soon. NRG .... When is the last time you made a sphere?

Couple years! We are finally making progress on the workshop it's slow going with too old out of shape people in 100°+ weather but we are moving forward.
I don't know if I'll make more or not. I'm motivated to get the lathe turning agate "glasses" and similar.

To add to the list, I made this preform over the weekend. This is some of the Burro Creek Tube agate that Tommy and I collected a few years ago, should make ~3" sphere.

Being into lapidary is permission to have hundreds of unfinished project in progress. Confession is good for us all, but you have done it a bit more publicly (and in an organized fashion) than most of us. That last preform is a marvel.

This is going to be interesting, I love the look of the preforms! Post more pics of the intermediate phases and the process for our curiosity, please.

Yeah sphere time!
I think the Burro Creek must jump to the front to get done. That is going to be amazeballs!

Here are a few older pic's from some of the ones in the bucket as I was working on them. This one is a Burro Creek Brecciated, you probably seen Tommy post a few cabs of the same stuff. This sphere I walked away from for quite a while when it was in the sphere machine, it is a little egg shaped, I am trying to true it up. Here is a Holt Cyn that has all the flat spots out and is ready for polish. Here is an Az Shattuckite I collected at my friends mine over the winter, this one has a soft crusty spot that I am trying to work through. I will try and get some more pics over the weekend. Tim

Well, after three weeks of biz travel to Austin and Malaysia, I finally managed to get back to turning some rocks. I got a few trued up and cut a few preforms. A good weekend. Burro creek tubs agate. Chrysocolla with copper minerals I am guessing Stone Cyn. Ricolite Serpentine Pyrite and Quartz from Prescott area. Time to start polishing. Thx for looking. Tim

I love all of them already. I can't pick my favorite yet. They're all so different from each other, I want to see them all shiny.

WOW. I want them all The serpentine, the shattuckite, and the chrysocolla are my favorites!! Do you ever sell your spheres? I have only sold one sphere and I had no intentions on selling, just could not resist the offer. Usually, I just give the spheres away to friends and family, I am not opposed to selling, it is just hard to come up with a price based on materiel cost and the amount of hours you have into it. Here is the one I sold, a composite of different serpentines. Thanks, Tim

How?!?! Just multiple pieces glued and formed? That is gorgeous and super creative. Spheres is on my list for down the line. I am trying to get better at too many other things to add to the list right now
