I received this from woodman Once my trim saw is set up, I think with a few cuts this could be a great slab of WI. No clue what the material is, but there is a lot going on. Way too pretty for me to make cabs from. Thinking make the cuts, do a face polish with the lap and mount in a frame. Maybe some back lighting, a there are translucent areas that match certain WI features. What do you think? Yes, I see the sad face in the middle of the slab. That is about Wausau area.

Looks like amethyst sage.
Something tells me you are a proud Wisconite. What do y'all call yourselves? I always hear cheesehead, but I'm sure there is another one.

Wisconsinite.
Cheesehead was formerly, well, still is a derogatory name that I believe originated in Illinois. But it was co-opted by Wisconsinites years ago. Wisconsinite is more of a formal label.

this is another slab of the Jasper. I believe I posted this on here awhile back. The name Sage Jasper and Desert Sunset jasper were tossed around. I really have no idea what it is. I bought the chunk at a garage sale in Prineville Oregon a few years ago.

I though it was an amethyst sage with an unusual twist.
I just love it.
As for what people from Wisconsin call themselves? I would day hardy and resilient. BTW, people from IL are flatlanders to us, lol.

Your slab really does have a very good resemblance to both the shape and, as you pointed out, some its physical features, too. It is amazing!
