callmerob. Don’t use the Quick Reply box when you want to add photos. Use the REPLY box. It presents a lot more possibilities. Good luck!

Trying it here...oops, the Insert Image icon above only wants a URL. I'm just trying to pick a photo from the desktop. I read the recent photo-related threads in this Help Section, and the only clue was someone who just kept poking it. Edit: In Edit this post I see Upload File which takes me to the Cloudinator, allows me to select a photo from desktop, gets it, and then "Upload fail - no preset found - try again". Bummer. Edit: Maybe it thinks I'm a Camera...instead of a Local Source... Nope. Same fail.

At this point, I think you should contact Cloudinary. I'm sure someone there will help. cloudinary.com/contact Make sure you mention that it is being used on Proboards. That will probably help.

Well I've burned the whole night over in the Cloudinater. Man, that's an exercise in frustration. It's like they assume I'm a web developer and actually know something about this stuff, when I'm really just another bozo on the bus with a picture of a pretty rock. They want to sell the $99, $249, $549 upgrades to corporate IT departments, and their website looks like it. It's a casual-user interface fail. The "free plan" looks a limited time free trial to me. Shades of Photobucket. I signed up, got all the secret code numbers saved, back and forth 50 times, read every word of all the pinned tutorials here, followed everything to the letter, set upload transformation parameters in the low 400's, saved everything. After navigating that cumbersome confusing website they're so proud of, I was ready to try it here. The Upload File button worked, showed my desktop photo files, but "Upload failed - no preset found - try again". Even found a photo 300x180. Nope. No preset found - try again. Yeah, no. It's 4:00am and I've got stuff to do tomorrow/today. See ya later. Hi Rob - I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. I realize it's a complicated process but honestly with this Proboards forum software it's the easiest to use 3rd party photo host we've ever found once you get it set up and working. I'm headed out for a very long day (and night) at my job but I will do my best to help you via email if you like. My email is tommy at tommylayoriginals dot com (no spaces). The best place to start would be if you can email me a screen shot of the Cloudinary settings in your profile here on the forum. Go to: Profile > Edit Profile > Settings tab This section is typically where folks have trouble after getting their Cloudinary account all set up: Ok, Tommy, I'm stuck, and taking you up on your offer to look at my RTH Cloudinary settings. Email sent with screenshot. Sorry to bug you.

Ok, Tommy, I'm stuck, and taking you up on your offer to look at my RTH Cloudinary settings. Email sent with screenshot. Sorry to bug you. No worries Rob - you are definitely not bugging me. Unfortunately my help is slow because as I said in my return email just now, my job is erratic and I've had a string of up-all-nighters.

And thanks to all others who held my hand. And in the interest of full disclosure and possibly helping another newbie, my error was on the forum's side where I entered a typo in the Upload Presets number provided by Cloudinary. An "o" should have been a "d". Seems like an obvious typo to see, but the print is tiny, and I have old eyes, and, and, yeah, that's the ticket. This is why they say, "Don't proofread your own stuff". All hail Tommy! Hey, it worked twice in a row! Thank you, Tommy and everybody for helping me.

Thank you, Tommy and everybody for helping me. You're welcome Rob. You're unstoppable now Speaking of tired eyes - that was NOT an easy one to see. I had to stare at it for a while (with my optivisors on lol) - the mind wants you to think you're seeing something correctly until you go letter by letter.

Thanks to Tommy and all here for your warm welcomes, and for holding my hand. I had to hold the laptop up to my face to see my typo. Tommy spotted it. So, Newbie, check thy work. test Cloudinary incoming transformation h=300, w=500... Edit: This aspect ratio looks like distorted by a wide angle lens. It's cropped from a larger photo, and is square 187x187. Maybe some photos will need tweaking, but it's doable. Ok, I'll shut up now. Thanks again, everybody.

This aspect ratio looks like distorted by a wide angle lens. It's cropped from a larger photo, and is square 187x187. Maybe some photos will need tweaking, but it's doable. I think why this happened is it's taking a tiny photo 187x187 and increasing it to your specified size. The majority of the time when we upload photos they will be huge - like right out of a cell phone camera - and the program will reduce them to the specified transformation size while keeping "scale." Scale means that it won't force the smaller dimension to comply with the requested transformation - ie: it will keep the same aspect ratio width to height and not distort the photo. Testing: uploading 150 x 150 EDITED: nope mine didn't distort. I have no idea why yours did - it looks like your settings are correct. Just make sure your transformation "mode" is always set to "Scale"
