and was not a good host. I buy very little material these days but keep looking for bargains. I bought a two piece item of pet wood from Oregon, The one on the right is Cow Creek herringbone. I was looking for some material with a herringbone pattern. The other one is Grassy Mountain and the picture was lighter than actual. I made a test preform and picked a lesser scene on the Cow Creek. I bought a very small slab of old stock Howardite at a low price. I got good value but the seller would have been better making it an auction instead of an auction with a buy it now. I was hoping to get a 40mm tongue but it fractured on the saw. Fracturing is common with Howardite. I'll need to shape it a bit gently and it should hold together. I'll take a stab at the square remnant but here isn't a lot there. Last decent scene on a Guadalupe slab. the crud is about 1 mm so I expect it to grind off when doming and will refine the shape
