Found this in what used to be a creek bed in my backyard outside St Louis, Missouri. Only piece I've found so far, although I did find a partly hollow chunk of limestone nearby. I am unable to scratch the material with a blade.

My wife tells me it looks like a barn owl.

This one was a few feet away. Again, unable to score with a blade. Couldn't get a spark off it, but that might be that it was damp. The stone is less orange and more pink in person.

My son and I found some rose quartz and clear quartz in the creek bed as well, tossed those into the tumbler to see how they look. We'll find out in a few weeks.

That first one does look like a barn owl. Can't help with the ID's, but pretty cool looking.

Does mozarkite extend into your area? I've seen pieces with bands of flint and agate/chalcedony that look similar to yours. Love the owl!

Missouri has what is called Missouri Lace agate for which I have some but no location. There is what is known as Union Road Agate discovered during a road building project. In NW MO you can find Lake Superior agates in gravel quarries. Then there is Mozarkite which is not agate but Chert with pinks and lavender colors over near Lincoln, MO. There is P. Wood near Clinton Lake and also Silicified coral in the Clinton Lake area. I have seen fossil ferns from Knob Noster, MO but have not found any myself.
