Hi Folks, It seems that either you are waiting forever to get past the coarse stage, or there are multiple batches ready to come out of polish. Well, that is what happens to me. This is a batch of budstone. Some were just broken up rocks, others are broken up slabs. There is some nice patterning to the rock. The budstone seems softer than the usual jasper/agates that I have been tumbling lately. I don't keep track, but the budstone ran in coarse for a max of three weeks. One week on the rest of the stages, except the polish stage, which I let go for three weeks (lost track of time). The polish was tin oxide. Cal

Sure looks pretty. How's the shine, hard for me to tell in the pics? What is the hardness of budstone? Anyone know?

Wow, Cal! Awesome patterns and color in those rocks! I haven't done anything with the budstone that I got from you yet. I had already decided that it would be the next under the blade, but after seeing yours, I can't wait! Very pretty stuff!

The budstone didn't take the "mirror" finish shine like agates, but the budstone is still shiny. After three weeks in tin oxide, I figured the budstone was as shiny as it was going to get.
KD, did you try any on your cabbing machine? I wonder if the different colors have different hardnesses, so the rocks keep beating themselves up. I used a lot of beads to keep the rock separated, but alas, not the mirror finish that I wanted.

Well, even if it didn't give you quite the shine you hoped for, it still looks great, and has wonderful colours and patterns!

Never heard of Budstone. It's pretty but I was really hoping for Clydesdale images on the rocks or something.....

Very pretty! I love the color. Another rock I haven't heard of yet. I'm sure there will be many more. Trish

Hi Cal,
Nice batch of stones there ...
I have not gotten anything better than a nice satin finish on the Budstone I have worked with in the past.
It is still nice material ... not everything in life shines!
Thanks for the photo's,
John

Ok, I don't feel so bad now that I couldn't not get the budstone to shine. I would have left then in polish until.... but, I had another batch ready for polish.
Yes, the patterns on these pieces are pretty cool looking. Sort of like green picture stone.

wonder would the titanium oxide work? sands i'd like to see your budstone cabbed. if that polish sands uses didn't work the titanium might not either but it's beautiful just like it is.

I love Budstone. I don't have any except for one of Sand's Cabojohn. It has a bautiful shine on it.
That is one yummy plate full of of stones!
