I ground the edges, marked the girdles and glued to dops 10 cabs today. I have a pretty good idea how 9 will turn out. The Nipomo was the one I was interested in. I slabbed and trimmed some Nipomo with my trim saw and one piece had a nice botryoidal vug. I had to remove the crud before I could finalize the shape. I ground the dome today, partially because Nipomo is messy and also to have a better idea how the finished cab will look. I'll work on the others on Tuesday. Through 280 soft.

Looking good and an interesting cab, too.

Sounds like a challenge with the vug. It looks very nice.

I view this vug as a positive attribute. I designed to incorporate it. The shaping is done and only sanding through polishing remains. About a half hour ago, I brought out the bulldozer; the TOP 80 grit wheel. I domed 4 thick cabs. I also had two butterfly casualties. One had a small vug and the aggressive wheel turned into a bunch of vugs. These type of vugs are like quick sand and I hate them. A large, thick 24x40 pear fractured without any indication. I won't try to recut and give up on the piece the material came from.

Bruneau from a scrap I found under my work bench. Pet wood from a slab I already cut a cab. I thought this scene would be better but it wasn't. High domed Stinking Water
