Hey folks, hope all is well. I moved to Yukon recently (the official style is not to call it "the Yukon") and we got out for our first hounding session before winter last weekend. We drove down to Carmacks and went up the Plume Agate Trail. I don't think we found much/any plume agate, but we did find a few nice translucent pieces and one good one. Saw several big veins of agate but didn't have the tools to get much of it. Hiked up pretty high with amazing views. Was a bit scary though because we thought we saw fresh bear poo and could smell a bear early on. Actually, this was pretty much the first time I've rockhounded on dry land. I usually stick to the rivers/beaches where it's easier. Thanks for looking!

Cool material..... Every time I watch those reality shows about the Yukon, I sit there saying, "I wonder what's up there for rock material"... Good luck on your adventures up there and thanks for sharing your stories!

Cool! Sounds like an awesome hike! But, yeah, the bears would scare the crap out of me.
Cool agates, too. Esp this one
He kinda looks like the cookie monster.
Thank you for posting. Y'all make a cute couple.

Hello!? You had me at "plume agate trail..." Awesome post and pictures Stewart - your girl is a cutie for sure. Mining seam agate is a whole nuther animal but I do hope you get to get back up there someday with some tools and break out a chunk or two.

Once again, thanks for the ride-a-long, always enjoy your trips and descriptions. Roughly how thick is that agate seam?

Good luck on your adventures up there and thanks for sharing your stories! Carmacks has several agate trails! We hope to try the others before winter. The scenery, mountains, rock formations of Yukon in general are spectacular. Every single spot in Whitehorse there's a jawdropping view. No wonder the housing market is doing so well. Only BC in parts competes with Yukon for beauty in Canada, in my opinion.

Thank you for posting. Y'all make a cute couple. Thank you, and you must have noticed I'm still repping your pendant! My girlfriend changes but I believe had the ocean picture rock piece on Tommy made for her a while back as well.

Thanks for posting the pictures and congrats on your move! The agate looks promising and I hope you keep us updated with your new adventures in rock hounding your new home. The country up there is so beautiful. We were through there on a cruise/land tour to Alaska for my mom's 70th birthday.

It's nice to be back in "civilization" again, but I'm spending $40 on sushi and $20 on Starbucks every day so might need to re-find my Arctic scarcity mindset...

I am currently trying for a flight to Whitehorse as I want to get back to Atlin before it snows (maybe next week). When I was there last month, I got a permission to metal detect for gold. However, I got slagged by some viewers of my YT channel, because didn't keep some of the rocks I picked up. If I have time, I will do some serious rock collecting. There is lots of potential, so you are living the dream.
