Hey everyone, Well, I have been at it again. I finally got some time to cut a couple of cabs and I thought you might be interested in seeing what I was able to get done today ;D This is Tube Agate. The slab this cab came from allowed me to work the cab to the very center of the tube and you can see the red vein that runs through it. It is definitely different! Oops, maybe I shouldn't have shown this photo This is a piece of Botswana Agate and the colors are absolutely gorgeous. Well, what do you think about this bad-boy! The next group of photo's are of one of the wildest pieces of Botswana Agate, I have ever seen. Is this something or what? Definitely a keeper ;D Enjoy the photo's and I will posting my latest batch of tumbled stones in the next day or so ... they are nice ... but they are not as nice as the stones above ;D John

John
That first one reminds me of pictures in my sex ed books in school.
It might sell for a good amount on ebay.
The rest are just awesome!! Great job on those!

They're all super!
the Botswana Agate looks like there's a hole in it with a stick sticking out. Really neat!
Is it a hole, or an optical illusion?

Hey John- That 3D Beauty you have on e-bay is really cool. Do you ever use those nice plume agates for a doublet?

John, those are stunning! That Botswana agate is too amazing for words, you have some beautiful cabs there. That tube agate is pretty cool too, in it's own unique way. LOL You do such beautiful work, I'm in awe. Thanks for sharing, Cher

Very nice work John. The stones are just stones, the way you work them is the real beauty.

Hi everyone, Thanks for the kind words, as always ... they are appreciated Gaetz - Black Bruneau Jasper is getting very hard to come by anymore. Thanks to the former President of the United States - Mr. Clinton ... we are no longer able to dig for this material. When he signed the Wind Rivers Act. ... he stopped the ability of any individual to even be able to take a piece home as a collectable. ... as it is now against the law to pick any of this material up (from its natural state). Banjo - I have made doublets in the past with some of my plume agates and Montana dendritic agates ... but, it has been a while. They do make for some awesome looking cabs! I especially like to take shards of broken Milk Glass (a snow white glass that was very previlent in the fourties and fifties) and back them with Montana dendritic agates. The black and red plumes on a snow white backdrop ... makes for some absolutely gorgeous doublets. You can find Milk Glass at a lot of yard/garage sales, auction barns, etc. You should try it and see if you like it. It polishes up beautifully and works just like obsidian. KD - The reason I listed these cabs at a lower price ... was basically due to the fact that I have not had a lot of cabs up for a while (do to moving the ceramics shop). I was just trying to get back on eBay by offering some people a great value. It's funny ... I have been cutting cabs for years and I do not have the craving to keep my own stuff. As a matter of fact ... my personal collection of cabs is less than 100 finish stones. I get a better feeling by selling or giving away some of my cabs and just watching the reactions of the people that got them. I do however, have one of the largest "Iris Agate" collections in the United States. When I get all of the preforms cut and finished (that I currently have setting and just waiting to be cut), there will be close to 200 cabs in the entire collection. This does not include the rock that I have yet to slab ... so the numbers could dramatically go up Thanks again for the kind words and take care, John

Hi Kim,
It turned out okay ... definitely not a 20X cab like my other cabs ... but, it turned out very nice!
I used a combination of Optical Grade Cerium Oxide with a pinch of Linde A (my favorite combination of polishes ;D).
By 20X ... I mean that you can magnify the surface of the stone twenty times and not be able to find any traces of a scratch. The polish combination above helps me to get such results.
Enjoy the weekend,
John
