In was going to Use HXTAL 2 Part Epoxy To Glue Cab Stones On a Belt Buckle. It is my understanding that both pieces need to be cleaned well. I watched a Youtube Video on how to mix and Epoxying Glass Together with HXTAL. And the guy uses Calcium Carbonate or whiting as he calls it to clean the glass. I was going to hit the back of the cab on a 60 grit lap to give it some teeth to cling to and Can I use lacquer thinner or acetone to clean the cab and belt buckle before I apply HXTAL? Any Advice Please. The Guy is cleaning the glass about 10:30 into the video.

I've never used hxtal but I have glued cabs in settings with other brands of 2 part epoxy. I think 60 grit, although it will definitely do the trick, is excessive. 220 would be the lowest I'd go. Acetone should work well to clean the buckle. Don't forget PPE, as I'm sure you know it's somewhat nasty stuff.

I would use acetone and then alcohol. I have used it. If I remember right, I used alcohol. I would go with 220 as well.

TheRock PPE = personal protective equipment 👍 Gloves, safety eyewear & proper ventilation at the least with acetone.

Agree with Tela -- Acetone and then alcohol and 220. Just remember that Hxtal takes a long time to cure -- about a week.

I can't count the times I sat in Supervisory Training in Miosha Classes. See how quickly I forget that stuff. Old Farts syndrome sets in fast and ya get dumber than a BOX OF ROCK'S no Pun Intended!

I have used A-1100 Silane to clean, then hxtal to bond stone to stone with great results. There are three pieces of stone in the picture, the bottom two were bonded together then cut, ground and polished. Bonded surface was cleaned --no sanding.

The Guy on the Video Recommends it too, Did you clean with anything else or just that stuff? I ordered a Liter of it from His Glass works thats where I got the HXTAL from.
