First one is Black Tube agate, though there are a few Oregon and Idaho sources I know of that look similar (Warm Springs, Arco, Ochoco come immediately to mind). On the second one, are the blue-gray areas translucent, or opaque?

On the second one, are the blue-gray areas translucent, or opaque? Does the black tube agate turn your hands & water black? As far as the other one I guess you could say the blue-gray areas are more opaque.

Does the black tube agate turn your hands & water black? The Warm Springs didn't. I don't think the Arco did, either, though it has been a long time - I think I have a couple of slabs left of that somewhere. If I can find one, I'll try sanding a corner tomorrow to see if it bleeds black. I asked about the blue-gray in the second, because the colors and the brown "webbing" in the background reminded me of some of the old Fantasy jasper (not the newest stuff that comes from another mine).

Whatever the last one is, I love it. Sorry, no help on ID.

Thanks you al. I believe I have an I.D. on the first one & that would be psilomelane plume agate. Still working on the other one. Rocks2dust, thanks, I will do some research on the Fantasy jasper. At least it gives me a place to start.

Donnie's Rocky Treasures The second one reminds me of some really nice rhyolite I had with great orange and blue colors. I never did get a name for it. It was more a one off, I believe. I think I ended up calling it starburst rhyolite.

Psilomelane plume sounds right. Should fetch a pretty penny.

Blue and orange may be llanoite

I think I ended up calling it starburst rhyolite. Looks very similar to that, although I've never seen what is sold as "Starburst rhyolite" having that blue. I'm still thinking that it's material from at least the same area as the old "Fantasy" and "Butterfly" jasper digs in Mexico (those were also silicified rhyolites). No sun yesterday or today, or I would have posted a photo. Looked for some Arco slices, but things are too dim to find anything today. Black is usually going to be manganese oxide, so psilomelane would probably fit regardless of from where it came. As I said, I don't recall the Arco bleeding much, though.

Here's another. I believe I posted them here and the best name we could come up with was starburst. It's an unusual piece. The blue looks the same to me.

The blue patches remind me of the center of a Cold Mountain Thunderegg That was the first thing I thought of also. It's kind of a scattered pattern for that material but Cold Mountain does have a lot of variability ... I'm not sure.

Didn't manage to find the Arco, but here is a shot of some of the old Fantasy jasper (circa 2001): Came in some different color combos with that brown webbing and blue patches.
