Went rockin' last weekend and came across this specimen, grabbed it because it appeared to have a crystalline structure, was not at all expecting to get what I found. My thoughts were it was going to look like some kind of metamorphic type structure but to my great surprise it was not. If anyone can better ID this I would appreciate it. I'm leaning to some type of quartzite as it is a crystalline material. No matter what it ends up being, it is cool. Bill

That's a nice little stone. I'd say some type of drusy quartz, definetly pretty what you have here though. RJ

I'm in learning mode, I have stabbed it out to 3/16" thick, going to try my hand at cabbing. Never having done this before, I'm waiting until after the Des Moines gem and rock show on the 19th so I can see more hands on demonstrations. I have some less spectacular pieces to practice on. Thanks for letting me know what it might be.
