I have never used any modern day lapidary equipment, except for a tumbler.
Am trying to determine placement of the flat lap and combo unit in my utility room.
The flat lap is mounted to a board. Was planning on clamping it to a Workmate.
I have a vintage, enamel 6' table. Was going to cover it with heavy duty tool box drawer liner and put the combo unit on top.
The Workmate will be next to my utility sink. The table just beyond that.
Does the combo unit need to be physically mounted to a surface or should it be fine on the table?
The biggest problem, in my mind, is my inability to sit for more than 20 minutes. Would like the combo unit to be at standing height, but space does not allow for a higher table.
Other option would be to install a counter/cabinets in the utility room where the table is. The cabinets would provide needed storage space.
What would you do? Thanks.

fernwood I would have the cabber at standing height myself. You could always find a stool to lean against if necessary. We'll have to watch Craigslist, often there's free kitchen cabinets listed. Could add wheels to make it somewhat portable.
