I made this cabochon some years ago and decided to list it on Etsy. Blue Biggs flat top with an interesting scene and a mirror polish. I noticed there was a barely visible fracture on the face. I took 3 pictures weighed it and measure the girdle. I set it down gently and when I looked for the cab it was in two pieces. The fracture line is visible in the picture. I couldn't stand looking at it and got superglue all over my fingers and the face. I'll give it away with an order.

That would have been a very nice cab. Can you save anything from the bottom of the cab for something smaller?

The cab was finished and it needed to be a flat top to maintain the pattern. After gluing it together I tried to sand off the glue using 325 soft and most of the pattern disappeared. The fracture was not a straight line and looked like two jigsaw puzzle pieces. The cab is now in the garbage but I have the picture to remember it.

That's a pity, especially after all the work you put into it. It sure would have been a lovely cab.

You could always try a doublet sometime to aid the salvage process.
