I want to wrap this really nice Amethyst cab. Problem is that someone drilled a small hole in the top. I have been contemplating several options for over a year and am still at odds. One thought was to have the wrap cover the hole. Another was to incorporate a wire through the hole for a bail only. The third was a combo of both. Another thought was to position a stone bead of contrasting color over the hole. Last choice, which would be a cop out, would be to use a pinch bail. I think this cab deserves more than that. The hole is so small, that only about 2-3 pieces of 24 ga wire will fit. That would be a pretty flimsy bail, so additional wire would need to be added. I want to use a combo of silver and copper wire for this. Copper would be for accents. So asking all you very creative people for input. What would you do? Thanks

After looking at my photos, came up with another option. Do a groove wrap in silver. Attach a contrasting color stone bead to cover the hole. Use the copper wires from that to wrap the bail. .

Sounds like you came up with a lot of design ideas on your own.
Personally, I'd wrap it (you know me). It would be super easy to use a wire for a curl or rosette over the hole.
From past experience, I can say that using a bead would look funny because it would stick out too much from the cab. However, a bead cap might do nicely.
Another option that might be a good idea for you, for practice, would be to recab the stone and knock the tip off at an angle. Or, simply bring it to a new point and preserve the pear. That would be my second option, I think.

Thanks. Never thought about a rosette.
