Seems like there's always "MO" where they came from.
Boo. Hiss. Bad.
First shot: I picked up this stuff in west St.Louis county last fall where they were building a new housing development. It was full of rock. LOTS of bright red orange in the soil and staining some of the rock. Much of the rock seems to be white flint. But, in amongst the others I found some interesting stuff, and again, I wondered whether there's pet rock in there. Especially the gray and brown pieces on the lower left, which came from a larger rock that seemed to have these colors in a circular type arrangement. This rock really is beautifully polished, appearances to the contrary. However, I've noticed while tumbling that it breaks apart very easily and it is hard to get it to smooth out.

These next ones are closer to the raw state of MO agate, collected in southeast MO not too far from STL.
Again, sorry about the rotten photo, it looks like it lost most of the detail. These were photographed wet. I was very impressed with the results after only about 3 days in the vibe. As an experiment, I'm trying to do a batch start-to-finish in the loto-tumbler. I picked rocks that already had fairly regular shapes and weren't too vuggy like some of my local stuff. I've been taking out the pieces as they begin to smooth out, adding more.
I hope these come out better than some of the others. This is a tray of some of my personal "faves" gathered together from some of the larger groups.
Thanks again for looking!
