Since I knew I was going to get my saw fixed, I've been looking for bargains on Ebay. This may not be one of them. I have two more slices to soak off the boards. I started to draw a 30x40 pear on a slab and it fractured. The edge looked like obsidian. It is also very dark material. I'll try making a cab and see if it holds together and then how it looks polished.

try baking them at 200 deg first what most people dont know is blue bigg s and all bigs is it is porous s if the oil was dirty when cut it will stain the slab if you bake that off the pattern and color will return

I'll give that a try. My biggest concern is fracturing. I bought some opalized wood in the past and some was ok and some was brittle. I've heard of opalized BB in the past but never bought any. This was reasonable enough to take a shot.

I tried baking for a few hours and there was no change. This material is probably opalized. I did try soaking in hot water with dishwasher detergent and it did lighten the material noticeably. I'm going to cut a 40x30 pear flat top and then polish it to see if it is worth continuing on.
